Crop Image
Trim an image down to the region you need using pixel coordinates rather than a drag handle. Furtu decodes the image, copies the requested rectangle and re-encodes it, which is the precise way to produce a fixed-size asset for a template or a social card.
Distance from the left edge of the image. The origin is the top-left corner.
Values beyond the image boundary are trimmed to fit rather than producing a broken file.
How crop image works
- Add one imageDrop in the picture you want to crop. Furtu decodes it and shows its real pixel dimensions so the numbers mean something.
- Enter the rectangleSet the left and top edges and the width and height in pixels. Anything outside the image is trimmed to the boundary.
- Download the cropped fileThe selected region is copied at its original resolution and written out as a new file.
What you get
Cut out an exact rectangle of pixels and discard the rest. Everything happens inside this page: the file is read by your browser, transformed in memory and handed straight back to you as a download. There is no upload queue, no waiting for a server, and nothing left behind when you close the tab.
Supported formats
Furtu accepts .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .avif, .gif, .bmp, .svg, .ico, .heic, .heif files up to 100 MB each — one file at a time.
- Every file is checked against its real file signature, not just its name, so a renamed or corrupt file is rejected with an explanation instead of failing halfway through.
- Files over the limit are refused up front rather than after a long wait.
Limitations, stated up front
- The crop is a straight rectangle. Rounded corners, circular masks and freeform shapes are not available.
- Cropping always re-encodes the file, so a JPG goes through one more lossy pass. Cropping a PNG stays lossless.
- A crop rectangle entirely outside the image is rejected rather than producing an empty or corrupt file.
- SVG and animated GIF are not supported here, because a canvas cannot re-encode vector art or keep GIF animation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I work out the coordinates?
The origin is the top-left corner, x runs right and y runs down, both in pixels. So a 1200×1200 square from the centre of a 3000×2000 photo would start at x = 900, y = 400. Any value that would run past the edge is trimmed to the image boundary and Furtu tells you in the result.
Does cropping reduce quality?
No resampling happens, because no pixels are scaled — the selected region is copied at its original size. The file is still re-encoded, so a lossy format goes through one compression pass. Crop from PNG and you keep it perfectly sharp.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The crop is performed in your browser on your own device. The image is never sent to a server, so cropping something confidential is safe.
Can I crop a batch of images?
This tool works on one image at a time, because a pixel rectangle that suits one picture rarely suits the next. To process a set identically, use “Resize Image”, which applies the same dimensions to every file.
